How to Use

Here’s how to find and calculate the inputs for the calculator to determine whether you should collaborate with an influencer.

Number of Real Followers

Use a tool like Inbeat to generate the number of “real” followers (that excludes bots and dormant accounts). The tool is free but requires an account.

Engagement Rate (ER)

Different tools calculate the engagement rate differently. Use the same tool consistently so you compare apples to apples. I use the free Chrome plugin from Influencer Searcher.

Niche Rating
This is subjective on a 1-5 scale. Here’s how I quantify it:

1 – Off-topic, off location
2 – Good location, off-topic
3 – Good location, OK topics / bad location, great topics
4 – OK location, great topics
5 – Great location, great topics

Giveaway
Since Giveaway campaigns are highly effective at generating ROI in terms of audience growth, this is a simple yes/no factor we look at.
Total Cost
Add up any payments made directly to the creator, the cost to host them, and the cost to host a giveaway winner (if applicable.)
Content Value
Also subjective, but here’s the scale I use:
$200: A random human with a cell phone
$1000: A professional photographer/videographer
$1500: A pro photographer/videographer, plus they are editing short-form video I can use directly
